About the Artist

Cynthia Liston Thye

Cynthia Thye (pronounced "Tee") is a fine artist, portraitist, and instructor. She works primarily in pastels and acrylics but also creates works in oil and mixed media. Cynthia lives in Parker, Colorado. 

Cynthia is a lifelong learner current attending ministry school in Denver, Colorado. She has three college degrees: a Master of Public Administration Degree from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa; a B.S. in Sociology and Design from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa; and an A.A.S. degree in Emergency Management and Planning from Red Rocks Community College in Lakewood, Colorado. Cynthia also received training in various inner healing ministries. She worked for over sixteen years in the business/government worlds and four years in teaching. 

In between, she and her husband purchased, remodeled, and flipped homes. She is very civic-minded and believes in paying it forward. This is demonstrated by her extensive history of community service, including work with adolescent girls rescued from human trafficking, serving as a Big Sister in the United Way Big Brother/Big Sister program, and providing casework for the Red Cross. She serves as a Planning Commissioner and late as a Trustee for the Town of Elizabeth, Colorado. She founded the non-profit Elbert County Artists Guild and grew membership to 67 in less than one year.  

She has sold art in two retail locations, art fairs, and juried exhibitions, including two paintings accepted by the Best of Parker Art Guild. There, she won an honorable mention and a cash prize.

Cynthia's creative process always begins with prayer. The goal is to communicate the heart and mind of God as it relates to a subject. Her desire is for the viewer to see painting elements in a more beautiful, loving perspective and have those feelings resonate. God willing, those feelings will become transformational.  

Cynthia's distinctive signature on all her paintings can be identified by the "y" in Cynthia as a red rose. The rose symbolizes the love covering the painting, like a loved one giving a single red rose in adoration.
