About the Artist

Cynthia Liston Thye

Cynthia Thye (pronounced "Tee") is a fine artist, portraitist, and instructor. She works primarily in pastels and acrylics but also creates works in oil and mixed media. Cynthia lives in Parker, Colorado, with her husband and beloved dog. 

She is an award-winning artist whose work earned honors in the Best of Parker Artists Guild juried exhibition. Cynthia's paintings are held in private collections and displayed across retail galleries and regional art shows. 

Cynthia's creative process always begins with prayer. The goal is to communicate the heart and mind of God as it relates to a subject. Her desire is for the viewer to see painting elements in a more beautiful, loving perspective and have those feelings resonate. God willing, those feelings will become transformational.  

Cynthia's distinctive signature on all her paintings can be identified by the "y" in Cynthia as a red rose. The rose symbolizes the love covering the painting, like a loved one giving a single red rose in adoration. 

A dedicated lifelong learner, she is presently pursuing an ordination ministry program in Denver, Colorado. Cynthia also earned a Master of Public Administration from Drake University, a Bachelor of Science in Sociology and Design from Iowa State University, and an Associate of Applied Science in Emergency Management and Planning from Red Rocks Community College. In addition, Cynthia received training in various inner healing ministries. 

She has over two decades of professional experience as a commercial loan officer, economic development project manager, community/emergency planner, and executive administrative assistant. She frequently bridges her technical background with her passion for design, having spent years collaborating with her husband to acquire, renovate, and flip residential properties across Colorado.

 Strategic planning, creative design, and civic engagement form the foundation of Cynthia's public service career. Her local governance experience includes serving as a Town Trustee and Planning Commissioner for Elizabeth, Colorado, as well as founding and leading the Elbert County Artists Guild.

Deeply committed to trauma recovery, youth empowerment, and advocacy, Cynthia’s extensive volunteerism directly reflects her dedication to anti-trafficking efforts and youth mentorship. She has served as a support specialist for the Colorado Human Trafficking Hotline and spent years mentoring and tutoring adolescent survivors in the Denver metro area. Whether conducting disaster casework for the American Red Cross, mentoring youth through Big Brothers Big Sisters, or leading local community programs, Cynthia continues to inspire, equip, and uplift those she serves.
